Teachers Take advantage of the museum's free preview for teachers to best prepare yourself for your class's visit. If you cannot visit the museum, be sure to review our web site and download documents that have been made available on the field trip pages. When visiting the museum with a group, the Children's Museum of the Shoals requires one adult for every 5 students on the Discovery Field Trip and one adult per every 10 students on the Focused and DEEP Field Trips. Your class will be divided into smaller rotation groups upon arrival to the museum. Please have group leaders selected before you arrive. Please review the guidelines below with both children and chaperones before arriving. For Your Students Please remember to use your walking feet at all times. Please remain with your chaperones at all times. Gum, food and drinks are not allowed. Play with everything. Please clean up after yourself. Treat exhibits with care. Have fun! For Your Chaperones We want chaperones to have as much fun visiting the museum as the children! Adult supervision is needed to monitor and maintain the good behavior of your students and to help facilitate their learning. Please stay in the exhibit area with your group. Get involved! Put your hands on different exhibit components and see how they work. Read the label out loud to your group. Watching you play with an exhibit often encourages and stimulates children to do the same. Gift Shop and Goody Bags: Pre-made goody bags are available for groups to order in the amounts of $1.00, $2.00 and $3.00. Each bag contains age appropriate items from the gift shop, "Kitty's Corner". Children may shop in the gift shop in lieu of goody bags. There's no charge for cancellation of goody bag orders 10 days prior to field trip. Less than 10 days notice requires a $25 cancellation fee due to staffing and restocking costs. Lunch Suggestions Make a day of your field trip and have lunch in the park!
