A Discovery Field Trip engages children in a variety of exhibits that promote self-discovery through interactive learning experiences.

Preschool Field Trips

Dates are limited! If possible, please schedule your visit at least 3 weeks in advance. The months of April and May book early so please CALL first (256-765-0500). Prior to calling, have 2 or 3 dates in mind. We also need to know an approximate number of students, teachers and possible adults. Even though we don't open until 10:00 a.m., we can take field trips as early as 9:00 a.m. but you must call first to see about availability.

Group Admission Fees
Students: $4, Teachers: Free, Adults: $5
  • Reservations are required to qualify for the reduced admission rate.

  • Payment is due day of visit. (cash, check, VISA or MasterCard)

  • One adult is required for every 5 students.

  • Maximum group capacity is 60 children
  • Maximum of 10 students and 2 chaperones in the Gift Shop.

    Cancellation Policy
    If you must cancel your field trip, please do so at least 2 days in advance.

    General Information
    The museum is accessible to the handicapped. If any of your students have special needs, please notify the staff on arrival.

    Preschool students are divided into rotation groups upon arrival. Each rotation group contains 8-15 students, depending on group size. The field trip lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes and includes visits to the following exhibit areas:

  • Deibert Park has a wonderful playground and pavilion for your use. The pavilion is available on a first come, first serve basis.

    Cancellation Policy
    Late cancellation will result in a fee of 50%. If you fail to cancel within the allotted time, we will require that you pay the 50% prior to holding your reservation for future visits.

  • Each field trip also includes a Stuffee presentation or a guided art activity. The art activity is recommended for 40 students or less.

    Deibert Park has a wonderful playground and pavilion for your use. Restroom facilities and benches are available but there are no tables. Many school groups that come to the museum take advantage of the park and enjoy lunch and playtime there as it is only a brief walk from our facility. The pavilion is available on a first come, first serve basis.
